Warhammer 40,000 – Starter Set – 40-04
The Warhammer 40,000 Starter Set is a complete entry-level box for the new generation of battles in the 41st millennium. In this set, the heroic Space Marines clash with the brutal Orks in a battle for worlds, ruins, and strategic positions. With two full Combat Patrol armies, terrain, game boards, dice, rulers, and clear starting rules, this box contains everything you need to start playing Warhammer 40,000 right away.
Two Combat Patrols in one box
This starter set includes two complete push-fit forces: an elite group of Space Marines and a large, boisterous horde of Orks. Both armies contain leaders, infantry, and support units, giving new players a good sense of how different Warhammer 40,000 armies feel.
The Space Marines play as an elite army with strong armour, reliable weapons, and flexible units. The Orks, in contrast, bring numbers, brutal force, chaotic energy, and the feeling of a true Waaagh! to the battlefield.
Space Marines vs. Orks
The Space Marines are led by a Captain with Relic Shield and a Librarian, supported by Intercessors, fast Vanguard Veterans with Jump Packs, and a Land Speeder. This gives the army a nice mix of command, psychic power, solid infantry, mobility, and vehicle support.
The Orks come with a Warboss, Weirdboy, twenty Ork Boyz, ten Gretchin, and a Wartrakk. This half immediately feels like a classic Ork force: lots of bodies, crude weapons, speed, noise, and enough personality to make every game chaotic and entertaining.
Terrain, game boards, and starting materials
In addition to the miniatures, the box also contains fifteen push-fit terrain pieces, including Manufactorum Ruins, barricades, technical installations, and pylons. Together with the two foldable game boards, you can quickly build an atmospheric battlefield with cover, objectives, and clear lines of fire.
The set also includes an 88-page Core Rules booklet, an 88-page Starter Set Handbook, two double-sided reference sheets, two range rulers, and ten dice. The manuals introduce building, painting, and playing step-by-step, making this box very suitable for beginners and hobbyists who want a complete new base set.
Painting fun with two iconic factions
For painters, this box offers a lot of variety. The Space Marines are ideal for crisp power armour, heraldry, lenses, edge highlights, and squad markings. The Orks, on the other hand, allow for green skin, rusty weapons, crude clothing, dags, checks, dirt, dust, and bright clan colours.
The terrain is a great extra hobby project. Think of weathered concrete, rusty metal, hazard stripes, battle damage, dust, rubble, and scorched edges. This way, you not only build two armies but also a complete gaming table with a cohesive look.
