The Whirlwind is an artillery vehicle for the Adeptus Astartes, built on the reliable Rhino chassis. Where Intercessors hold objectives and Dreadnoughts support the frontline, the Whirlwind stays behind the lines to force enemies out of cover, ruins, and fortified positions with missile salvos.
Indirect fire support for Space Marines
On the battlefield, the Whirlwind is ideal for Space Marine players who want to expand their army with long-range support. Thanks to its missile system, it fits well into armies that want to apply pressure without needing direct line of sight to every target.
It is particularly thematic in combined arms forces: infantry advancing, tanks controlling lines of fire, and the Whirlwind providing support from a safe position.
Choice of Vengeance or Castellan missiles
This kit can be built with Vengeance missiles or Castellan missiles as the missile payload. This allows you to visually match the vehicle to the role you feel best suits your army: heavier, more menacing missiles or a more classic salvo artillery appearance.
Additionally, you can choose between a closed hatch or a visible Space Marine tank commander, which adds a bit more character to the model within your Chapter.
Painting fun with Chapter colours and vehicle details
For hobbyists, the Whirlwind offers plenty of room for crisp Chapter colours, transfers, weathering, and battle damage. The large armour plates are perfect for Ultramarines blue, Blood Angels red, Imperial Fists yellow, Dark Angels green, or your own Successor Chapter.
Think of soot around the launcher, scratches on the edges, mud on the tracks, dust on the hull, and campaign markings on the sides. The missile battery on top gives the vehicle a recognizable silhouette and immediately differentiates it from a standard Rhino or Razorback.
