Warhammer Age of Sigmar – Maggotkin of Nurgle – Rotswords – 83-113
The Rotswords are heavily armoured mortal warriors of Nurgle, armed with rusty master-wrought weapons and imbued with the blessings of decay. Where Plaguebearers advance slowly and inexorably, Rotswords represent the martial aspect of the Maggotkin: elite infantry that march towards the enemy in a cloud of sickness, rust, and unstoppable devotion.
Heavy Infantry for Maggotkin of Nurgle
On the battlefield, Rotswords are ideal for players who want to reinforce their Nurgle army with a robust mortal infantry unit. They fit well into an army focused on holding objectives, slowly building pressure, and wearing down enemies in prolonged engagements.
Their heavy armour and decaying weapons make them thematically perfect alongside Putrid Blightkings, Harbingers of Decay, Rotbringer heroes, and other mortal followers of Grandfather Nurgle. These are not fast raiders, but warriors who continue to advance while the enemy slowly succumbs.
Rotswords, shields, and command options
This kit builds 10 Rotswords with various equipment options. Each warrior can be built with two rusty weapons or with a weapon and shield, allowing you to make the unit visually more aggressive or defensive.
The set also includes options for a champion, standard bearer, and musician, so you can build the unit as a fully-fledged regimental core within your Maggotkin force. The many Nurgle details, broken armour, diseased bodies, and rotted weapons give each model a lot of character.
Painting fun with rust, rot, and heavy armour
For painters, Rotswords are a rewarding project. The models combine large armour plates with skin, cloth, weapons, shields, and Nurgle iconography. Think weathered green armour, rusty edges, grimy metals, pale skin, purple bruises, slime, pus, and dark wash effects.
On the bases, you can strongly convey the theme of decay with mud, mould, toxic pools, rotting ground, broken stones, or remnants of a battlefield slowly being claimed by Nurgle.
