The Plague Drones of Nurgle are disgusting daemonic cavalry who buzz across the battlefield on enormous Rot Flies. Where Plaguebearers advance slowly and imperturbably, Plague Drones bring more speed, mass, and menacing mobility to a Nurgle army. They are vile, tough, and perfect for players who want to suffocate their enemy with rotting pressure from unexpected angles.
Flying Daemonic Pressure for Nurgle
On the battlefield, Plague Drones are ideal for Maggotkin of Nurgle players who want to add more movement to their army. They can threaten flanks, pressure objectives, and harass enemy units while your slower Nurgle core slowly marches forward.
They fit excellently alongside Plaguebearers, Poxbringers, Horticulous Slimux, Beasts of Nurgle, and other daemonic Nurgle units. In Warhammer 40,000, they can also be used within Chaos Daemons, making this set interesting for players who use Nurgle daemons in multiple systems.
Rot Flies and Plaguebearer Riders
Each Plague Drone consists of a Plaguebearer riding an enormous Rot Fly. The models combine the sickly, one-eyed appearance of Nurgle daemons with the insectoid horror of giant flies: torn wings, swollen bodies, claws, teeth, horns, and contaminated weapons.
The set includes components to build a command group, including options for a Plaguebringer, Icon Bearer, and Bell Toller. This allows you to give the unit extra character and visually connect it to a larger daemonic procession of Nurgle.
Painting Fun with Wings, Slime, and Rot
For painters, Plague Drones are a delightfully disgusting project. The Rot Flies offer plenty of scope for glossy insect bodies, translucent wings, diseased skin, rotting wounds, toxic eyes, and slimy effects. The Plaguebearer riders add rusty weapons, horns, pus, entrails, and Nurgle iconography.
Bases with mud, toxic puddles, mold, rotting plants, cracked earth, or contaminated battlefield debris perfectly suit their role as flying harbingers of decay.
