Warhammer: The Old World – Grand Cathay – Peasant Levy
Not every defender of Grand Cathay wears jade armour or fights from the back of a mighty beast. The Peasant Levy forms the empire’s mass popular militia: farmers, hunters, and common citizens called upon to defend Cathay’s borders, villages, and cities against Chaos incursions and other threats.
Mass, Discipline, and Flexible Deployment
On the battlefield, Peasant Levy are not elite warriors, but rather valuable for their numbers and versatility. They can be deployed as a large infantry block to control space, absorb enemy units, or support the core of your Cathay line.
The kit offers a choice of long spears or warbows, allowing you to build the unit as a defensive spear formation or as archers raining arrows upon the enemy. This makes the set useful for players who want to give their Grand Cathay army more breadth, bodies, and tactical flexibility.
Perfect for Grand Cathay Armies
Peasant Levy fit thematically with the larger structure of Grand Cathay: disciplined ranks, supporting troops, and an army built around balance, formation, and cooperation. They form a natural complement to Jade Warriors, artillery, gunners, and Cathay’s more powerful heroes.
You can field them as one large unit of 20 models or as two smaller units of 10, each with its own command options. This makes the box practical for army building as well as interesting for scenarios involving border defence, village militias, or the defence of the Great Bastion.
