Warhammer The Old World – Grand Cathay – Cathayan Sentinel
The Cathayan Sentinel is a colossal living statue, shaped by the magic and ancient martial arts of Grand Cathay. This towering guardian strides onto the battlefield as a moving monument of stone, jade, and draconic power, ready to smash enemy formations with crushing force.
Towering Living Statue
The Cathayan Sentinel is an impressive monstrous addition to a Grand Cathay army in Warhammer: The Old World. Where Jade Warriors hold the line and Jade Lancers pressure the flanks, the Sentinel acts as a heavy anchor point forcing enemies to adjust their plans.
Offensive Battering Ram or Defensive Anchor
This construct can be used both aggressively and defensively. Use it offensively to break through enemy lines and pressure key objectives, or place it defensively as a massive blockade that opponents cannot easily bypass. Its size and threat make it ideal for controlling space on the table.
Imposing Power on the Battlefield
A Cathayan Sentinel towers over regular infantry and brings a very different presence to your army. It pairs well with blocks of Jade Warriors, where it can absorb enemy charges or support counter-charges. Combined with Cathayan fire support and cavalry, it gives your army a sturdy core with significant visual and tactical impact.
Build Options and Customisation
The kit can be built in two different poses and includes options for two faceplates and two different blades for its enormous weapon. This allows you to better match the Sentinel to the aesthetic of your army, or build multiple Sentinels without them looking exactly alike.
Hobby and Painting Opportunities
The Cathayan Sentinel is a fantastic centerpiece project for painters. The large stone surfaces lend themselves perfectly to terracotta, jade, marble, weathered stone, moss growth, magical glow, and gold accents. Due to the size of the model, you can work extensively with drybrushing, glazing, weathering, and object source lighting around gemstones or magical details.
