Citadel Layer: Thunderhawk Blue is a muted blue-grey paint ideal for highlights, cool gradients, and lightening dark armour or fabric colours. The hue has a cool, weathered appearance and works excellently for sci-fi armour, vehicles, cloaks, machinery, and urban basing details.

For cool layers and controlled highlights

As a Layer paint, Thunderhawk Blue is designed to be painted over a base colour or previous layer. The paint builds up well in thin layers, allowing you to give blue-grey surfaces more definition without the result becoming too stark. For example, use it on power armour, vehicles, weapons, cloaks, scales, uniforms, and technical details.

Strong for armour, fabric, and weathered sci-fi schemes

Thunderhawk Blue pairs excellently with dark Space Marine schemes, stealth units, industrial sci-fi armies, cold fantasy themes, and models with a weathered or military appearance. This colour is also very useful for urban bases, drab fabrics, alien skin, and subtle highlights on dark blue or grey tones.

Combines beautifully with other blue-grey shades

This colour works well as a highlight over dark blue-grey and grey base colours. For lighter accents, you can combine it with Fenrisian Grey, Russ Grey, or other cool grey tones. Dilute the paint slightly and work with multiple thin layers for a crisp, matte result where sculpted details remain clearly visible.
