Citadel Layer: Gorthor Brown is a neutral, medium brown paint that is ideal for highlights, natural colour transitions, and for lightening leather, wood, fabric, and earthy details on miniatures. The colour has a calm, realistic brown tone and works excellently when you want to give brown surfaces more definition without making them too warm or too bright.
For natural brown layers and highlights
As a Layer paint, Gorthor Brown is designed to be painted in a controlled manner over a base colour or a previous layer. The paint builds up well in thin layers, allowing you to subtly lighten brown surfaces while shadows remain visible. For example, use it on cloaks, belts, pouches, boots, weapon shafts, fur, horns, and terrain pieces.
Great for leather, wood, and weathered details
Gorthor Brown is a versatile colour for fantasy and sci-fi miniatures. For fantasy models, it works well for adventurer's gear, wooden weapons, animal hide, monsters, and rough clothing. In sci-fi projects, it is useful for weathered leather accessories, dusty equipment, basing details, and natural accents on industrial bases.
Blends well with other earth tones
This colour works well as a highlight over darker brown tones and can be further lightened with Baneblade Brown, Karak Stone, or other light beige tones. Thin the paint slightly and work with multiple thin layers for a crisp, matte result where the details of your miniature remain clearly visible.
